Dennis Point Café: Reviews & Ratings
Ms. D'entremont, our server, was excellent with her hospitality and knowledge. Best fresh haddock and scallops. Their Seafood chowder is famous and very popular. There's a reason for its popularity. It's off the charts! The wharf across the street is lined with an overwhelming number of lobsters boats and other fishing vessels. Need to see it to experience this wonderful place!
Spent a week here in NS during lobster season as part of a life long seafood addiction and dream to eat the freshest lobster possible... Dennis point cafe made it a complete dream with their seafood chowder, lobster poutine and hot lobster sandwich. The hot lobster sandwich with the creamed lobster was mind blowing, insanely good, with the poutine just a hair less amazing but still incredible. Their chowder wasn't the absolute best I had this week, but it was a VERY close second if I'm being honest. Just absolutely phenomenal experience all around, great decor, clean and spacious too! Karen d'Entremont even warned us about the incoming, likely to be loud, coffee breakers from the wharf before we chose a seat and she made sure we had a nice peaceful spot with a gorgeous ocean/wharf view. Her attention to detail and care for us as customers was second to none. Definitely going to come back any chance I get now that we live fairly close over in NB.
Great for breakfast too. Small breakfast menu, but very tasty options. Wife had the full breakfast which was very good, and I had the lobster omelet which was marvelous. Typical large café but very clean and friendly staff and regulars.
The best fish I've ever eaten on East Coast. I've tried many fish and chips around USA and Canada and I was always disappointed. However at Dennis Point Cafe fish was tasty and juicy. I took halibut cheeks, my husband traditional fish and chips, both pan fried with home special salad. Finally we were able to taste fish, not oil it was cooked in. It is a hidden gem.
Update March 2024...Very Disappointed!!! This was one of our favorite places for seafood. We haven't been in a while and decided to go back but sadly I think it will be our last time there. There seems to be a lack of care in the food fish was hardly cooked and my lobster roll was a bun with juice on it there was no lobster for $26. Not very happy. The below pictures was my sandwich today and my sandwich last time I was there like a year ago. I edited my review so the next part was my original review I wish I could have said the same today....WoW!!!! We went Sunday for a family dinner of 13. It was very busy and the Service was Amazing!!!! The food was Amazing!!!!! and the girls were Awesome and friendly. Portions were a great size, best place for lobster. Just a great experience overall. Some of us were from Ontario and it did not disappoint, great way to end a vacation. Also got to meet the owners and they were very nice and it was great to see them there. very well run establishment!!! Will be one of our favorites for sure. Lobster roll, scallops, clams, hotchicken, burgers, chowder, pies oh my
The owner of this establishment (Juliette) has such a friendly personality! The fish and chips were fantastic and there was absolutely no bad vibes for walking in twenty minutes before closing. Juliette even took the time to listen to us ramble on about how friendly her community is. I would highly recommend eating at the Denis Point Cafe if you are visiting the West Pugnico area. Make sure to have the blueberry bread pudding! It was so good, we went back the next day to have it for lunch!
They make the best Cheesecake we ever had in Nova Scotia. For a breakfast try the western sandwich
Food portions have shrunk a bit over time, however, the quality is there. Clams were amazing, pan seared scallops were good (got 4 scallops) and sweet potato fries were also good. Pan seared battered haddock was delicious too!
